In 1990, EPD becaame the Thermal Printing Division. I was now in a software development group. With the change toward digital, we had some new marketing people brought in. Cynthia, the Multimedia Imaging Markets person, asked me to draft a digital strategy for the desktop computer imaging market. Finally, after almost three years of pushing the idea of switching to digital, someone was listening.
It may have had something to do with the report management had requested from some top photo industry consultants. The report had basically told them that the Still Video Floppy was dying and that digital was the future of imaging. And they paid $250K for that useful nugget of information.
